Dance the Balkan Way 2017!

Balkanicus Institute for Balkan Art, Culture and History (BIBACH) invites you for a second year to Dance the Balkan Way—learn dances from Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Turkey. We have invited some of the best local and guest dance instructors to work with beginner and advanced dancers for six weeks.

FIRST PART at the Tapestry Folkdance Center, Friday evenings, 7:30-8:30, starting on September 29th. Both beginner and advanced participants will learn or refresh their knowledge of the Balkan dances with the help of the Tapestry instructors and the artistic directors of the local Greek and Romanian folk dance groups.

SECOND PART, at the Tapestry Folkdance Center on October 13-14, Friday and Saturday, Ahmet Luleci will have Turkish dance classes.

THIRD PART, at the Tapestry Folkdance Center on October 20,Friday, Miroslav Bata Marčetić and Konstantin Marinov will have Bulgarian, Croatian, Montenegrin and Serbian dance classes.

FOURTH PART at the Buetow Music Auditorium, Concordia University, St Paul on October21, Saturday, the classes from the previous day will continue in the afternoon. In the evening we will have food, dances by the local community folk dance groups Bulgari, Turkish Dancers, Romanian Izvorasul, Greek Dancers of Minnesota, Serbian Folk Group, local live music and open dance.

Cost
$50 pass for 4 Friday classes on Sept. 29, Oct 6, 13 and 20; 2 Saturday sets of two classes each on Oct 14 and 21; and the Gala on Oct. 21
$20 pass for two Saturday classes (either Oct. 14 or 21)
$30 pass for Oct. 21 for two classes on that day and the Gala
Single class*/Gala – $12
*Separate Tapestry classes – regular Tapestry prices apply
Ages 8-13 – half price
Under 8 (with adult) – FREE
Food for Sat., Oct. 21 is available only in advance for $10.
